„Do it again this Ska“ – soll Prince Buster in der Entstehung des Ska lautmalerisch zu seinem Gitarristen gesagt haben, als dieser aus Versehen einen Offbeat spielte. Die Ska&Rocksteady-Band Canastron hat sich dieses Zitat nicht nur lautmalerisch zum Ziel gesetzt. Die neunköpfige Gruppe sind alte Bekannte im Mundwerk und schafften es noch immer mit packenden Melodien, groovenden Rhythmen und einer starken Bühnenpräsenz das Publikum zu Begeistern.
Spy Kowlik:
Grenzen – in welcher Form auch immer – sind nicht so das Ding von Spy Kowlik, und so ska-punk-rocken sich die glorreichen Sieben, gespickt mit messerscharfen Bläserriffs, quer durch den Genre-Garten und trampeln dabei auch gleich den Gartenzaun mit Karacho nieder. Referenzen? Könnte man nennen, muss man aber nicht, denn mit knapp 20 Jahren hat der Bub die Adoleszenz hinter sich gebracht und geht seinen eigenen Weg. On stage ist Spy Kowlik ganz bei sich und gibt alles – wenn man sie dann noch nach 12 Uhr füttert, steht der gemeinsamen Eskalation nichts mehr im Weg.

„Do it again this Ska“ – Prince Buster is said to have said to his guitarist in the genesis of Ska when he accidentally played an offbeat. The ska & rocksteady band Canastron has not only made this quote their goal. The nine-member group are old acquaintances in Mundwerk and still manage to enthuse the audience with gripping melodies, grooving rhythms and a strong stage presence.
Spy Kowlik:
Boundaries – in whatever form – are not Spy Kowlik’s thing, and so the glorious seven, peppered with razor-sharp brass riffs, rock their way through the genre garden and trample down the garden fence at the same time. References? You could name them, but you don’t have to, because at just under 20 years old, the boy has put adolescence behind him and is going his own way. On stage, Spy Kowlik is completely with himself and gives everything – if you feed them after 12 o’clock, there’s nothing standing in the way of a joint escalation.
